Profile privacy notice

Effective 2 November 2026. This notice explains Cambodia Scholar accounts, profiles, and research submissions.

Signing in

Cambodia Scholar uses Supabase Auth to send and verify a one-time code for the email address you provide. Supabase supplies a private account identifier and the session cookies needed to keep you signed in. Cambodia Scholar uses that verified identity to connect you to your profile and submissions. Your sign-in email is displayed only to you and is not included in the public directory. Cambodia Scholar does not collect or store an account password.

Information you choose to save

Your name, country or region, affiliation, research field, biography, ORCID, website, and profile settings are stored in Cambodia Scholar's Cloudflare D1 database. An optional profile photo is stored in Supabase Storage. Profiles and photos are private by default. These details are self-submitted, not independently verified.

Public profiles

If you select “List my profile in the public researcher community,” anyone can view your profile details and photo. Public information can be copied or indexed by others. Do not include private contact details in your biography unless you want to share them publicly.

Photos

The upload form accepts JPEG, PNG, and WebP images up to 5 MB. It resizes photos and converts them to JPEG before saving in Cambodia Scholar's Supabase Storage, removing the original image metadata. Upload a photo you have permission to use. Your photo follows your profile's visibility setting. Private photos can be retrieved only for their owner through Cambodia Scholar. If you make your profile public, the current photo moves into the public profile scope so it can appear in the community directory. If your account has been linked to an existing reviewed researcher record, the same photo also appears on that researcher's card and profile window. A private photo is visible there only to you when signed in.

Editing, unlisting, and deleting

You can edit your profile, replace or remove your photo, make your profile private, or delete it from My Profile at any time. Deletion removes the profile from the active directory and makes its photo unavailable through the site. It does not remove your sign-in access or copies that other people have already saved.

Research submissions

A signed-in visitor with a Cambodia Scholar profile can submit a contribution type, DOI/ORCID/source link, title, authors, abstract, research field, year, context, and up to five proposed figures. Your private account identifier and name link the submission to you. Text is stored in the Cloudflare D1 database and figure files in private Supabase Storage. Figures are converted to PNG at their original dimensions, removing original image metadata. Each figure may be up to 5 MB, with a 10 MB total limit.

Submissions are private and are not automatically added to the public research collection. The site operator can access stored contributions for editorial review and administration. Other visitors cannot view your submission or figures through the site. You can view or remove your submissions from My submissions after signing in. Removing a submission also removes access to its uploaded figures. Deleting your profile does not delete your research submissions; manage those separately from My submissions.

Account migration

For an account migrated from the earlier sign-in system, Cambodia Scholar may retain its previous private ownership key and map it to the new verified account identifier. This preserves access to the existing profile and files without matching people by name, affiliation, or ORCID.

Existing research records

Community profiles are separate from the reviewed publication and researcher records. Creating or deleting a community profile does not claim authorship of, or change, those records. Saved research bookmarks remain stored in your browser.
